About OCAR

Making research accessible to the world

The Oxford Centre for Advanced Research was founded by a group of Oxford graduates committed to making academic research more accessible to the next generation of thinkers.

Our Mission

Why we exist

The Oxford Centre for Advanced Research was founded on the belief that access to world-class academic mentorship should not be limited by geography or background. We work with leading researchers and early-career academics to expand the reach and impact of ideas that matter.

Through the OCAR Academy, we empower high school and undergraduate students to produce genuine research under the guidance of faculty from Oxford, Cambridge, Harvard, MIT, and other leading institutions.

Through the OCAR Think Tank, we support early-career researchers in sharing their expertise with the broader public, through podcasts, essays, public lectures, and more.

Our Values
Rigour
We hold our students and faculty to the highest academic standards — the same standards applied in top university research environments.
Accessibility
We believe that great ideas can come from anywhere, and that exceptional young minds deserve access to the best mentors regardless of where they are from.
Impact
We measure success not just in publications, but in the long-term trajectories of the students and researchers we work with.
Our Story

OCAR was founded by a group of Oxford graduates committed to creating the same type of academic opportunity in research that they had benefited from during their own time at university.
